  • We are committed to providing the best quality services for the people who live, work in and visit the County.

  • We place a high priority on the needs of all our staff by ensuring that each employee has a clearly defined role and is supported by regular appraisals and performance review. The appraisal process is used to assess job performance, agree new objectives/tasks and identify development needs.

  • We encourage employees to develop work-related skills, supported through our commitment to the national Investor in People standard and most services have been accredited. Numerous options for skills and knowledge development exist. Employees are encouraged to study for professional qualifications relevant to the department's work, for which financial assistance is provided.
    Employees on pay ranges 1 to 4 are eligible for up to a 50% discount on a wide range of continuing education.

    o Flexible working - In situations where it is operationally practicable, the Council operates a flexible working hours scheme and up to 13 days can be accrued annually.

    o Special leave options, including parental leave, adoption leave, and dependency leave for domestic emergencies.
    o Childcare Vouchers - Vouchers are available to all employees and offer a saving of up to 8.4%.
    o "Westfield Health Scheme" - a comprehensive employee health plan.
    o Voluntary Personal Accident Cover scheme - To cover employees and their families against accidents occurring in their leisure time.
