Either way, we aim to provide you with information to help you make this important choice. Naturally, we hope that you will consider Buckinghamshire County Council as your first choice!

Over the following pages, we hope to give you a flavour of what it is like to work for Buckinghamshire County Council, to provide you with access to current vacancies, and to give you an opportunity to register your details with us so that we can keep you updated with the very latest opportunities and news.

We are delighted that the Council has achieved the top rating in its recent Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA).

Because of changes in the way the CPA now works, that means we are a top-performing four-star authority.

The annual audit and inspection letter from the Commission says: “The Council has improved outcomes across a range of its services, especially in its priority services of education, social services and transport. Over three quarters of key performance indicators have improved, and almost half place Buckinghamshire among the best performing councils nationally.”

The Commission has identified areas for further improvement to keep us at the top of the league and plans are being developed to tackle these. These are further improving performance on children's social care, meeting the waste management agenda, and improving the levels of public satisfaction with our services.

We are investing more in children's social care, pushing forward our waste agenda with a public consultation in January, and in the middle of a comprehensive residents survey. At the same time we are striving continually for efficiency savings and keeping council tax rises as low as possible.

The scores for the council's services were:

  • overall corporate assessment three out of four
  • four out of four for Culture services, which includes libraries
  • three out of a possible four for Children and Young People, Adults Social Care, Environment and use of Resources
